Martyn Steer - Churchwarden

My early life was spent in Germany where my father was in the RAF, a career and life I was to follow.

Moving every 18 months or so (15 house moves!) one needs an anchor and the military provides that anchor: a strong Family of Faith and a strong Faithful Family where trust, teamwork and tolerance are taken for granted.

During my own RAF career I served for a period as a Trustee at St Clement Danes Church in the Strand.

After leaving the RAF I worked as a school bursar where I became familiar with large estates of Listed Buildings. This stood me in good stead for a five-year apprenticeship as Churchwarden at our previous Parish. Undeterred by the experience, I’m doing it again at St James.
