We are Church of England parishes in the diocese of Hereford. The Colwall parish church is St James the Great, found about a mile outside the centre of the village, down Mill Lane (past the village hall). The parish church of the village of Coddington is All Saints, a further two or three miles away. The two parishes form the benefice of Colwall with Upper Colwall and Coddington, in the deanery of Ledbury.
Both churches have the same rector and we operate the services together. Our pattern of services ranges from traditional prayer book services to informal worship. The Sunday Readings document gives the readings for the main service each Sunday.
Our Rector is the Reverend Melanie Horton and she is supported by a ministry team of retired clergy and lay people and our Parish Administrator, Joy Conlon. Use the Contact us button for directions to the churches and to get in touch with us by e-mail.
We would like to welcome everyone to our churches, to join in a service, or simply to enjoy their stillness during the day. Details of the services in both parishes for this month and the next are on our Services page. Further information and news of events can be found in our parishes' magazine, The Colwall Clock and Coddington Recorder.
The secretary of the PCC of St James is Joy Conlon. The annual report to the annual parochial church meeting gives information on what is going on in the church.
Our child protection policy explains how we implement the legislation for the protection of children and vulnerable adults while they are in our care. The named point of contact for these matters is Kate Stock, telephone 540 950.
You might like to enjoy the views from the churchyard. The War Memorial is located in the nearby memorial garden. The Ale House, by the east gate to the churchyard, serves as the church hall for St James. It is used for various meetings and social functions, but is also available for hire.
See our pages about All Saints church and people.
